What a wonderful decision to publicly identify with our Lord through baptism. This act is a bold testimony of faith and obedience, declaring that we have been buried with Christ and raised to walk in newness of life. Truly, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Yet baptism is not the finish line, it is the starting point of a lifelong journey of discipleship. God puts it this way, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Growth in Christ is both a privilege and a responsibility, and it requires intentional steps.
🌱 A Challenge Toward Spiritual Growth
To walk worthy of the Lord and to mature in faith, I challenge you to pursue these practical steps:
1. Read Scripture Daily• Set aside time each day to read and meditate on God’s Word. Begin with the Gospels or John, and let the Word shape your thoughts and actions.
2. Consistent Prayer Life• Develop a habit of speaking with God daily. Prayer is not only asking, but also listening, thanking, and confessing.
3. Faithful Fellowship• Stay connected to the body of Christ. Attend services regularly, join a Bible study/discipleship group, and build relationships that encourage accountability and growth.
4. Active Service• Find ways to serve in the church. Whether through hospitality, teaching, or helping those in need, service strengthens your walk and blesses others.
5. Personal Holiness• Guard your heart and mind. Choose purity in speech, thought, and action, remembering that you are a witness of Christ in the world.
6. Sharing Your Faith• Tell others about the hope you have in Christ. Evangelism is not reserved for a few—it is the calling of every believer.
Remember, the One who began this good work in you will carry it forward. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). Walk boldly, grow steadily, and shine brightly for the glory of God.
